I appreciate your help, hopefully I will get it sorted. Is there a text file or something where I change the characters (although I have searched for a text file in the LMMS folder but nothing there) I'm nearly there just one more step to go I hope. I've tried going to the control panel and it says that there's no audio deivce or anything. When i used it this morning, everything was fine and there was sound and everything, but now that i'm using it, there is no sound at all. It was mentioned before as being a problem but where do I change the / to \ for the C Drive. I am using Windows XP, and this used to be my dad's laptop. I have noticed that the folder it's trying to write to is C:/ instead of C:\. Now the problem I'm having (as was the same with v4.15) is that it won't save the files for me telling me I haven't access to write the file to the C Drive, so again I changed the read only (as it had changed back to read only) on the LMMS folder just to see and the problem is still there. I downloaded v4.15 for Vista 32 bit and the issue with sound was there in that I had no sound at all and it wouldn't change from "dummy no sound" to my desired output device so I tried deactivating the read only on the folder as was mentioned and it worked so that I could change to my desired sound device but I still had no sound and also the folder for some reason became read only again, so I uninstalled v4.15 and installed v4.13 and again had to change to read only. I don't know if other people noticed some noise while playing live with the piano keys so for now, I suggest to let the issue opened after all.I'm having the same problem and for my first time downloading it it's really annoying/frustrating as a first time user. I will go further into LMMS as it seems to be a really powerful software. This one seems erratic and is not caused by LMMS (I had it with different softwares). The awful crackling that I experienced before didn't show up again in Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS (it came up in debian buster yesterday). LMMS is described as free cross-platform alternative to commercial programs like FL Studio, which allow you to produce music with your computer. This includes the creation of melodies and beats, the synthesd mixing of sounds, and arranging of and is a leading music production app in the audio & music category. However, I tried several sound tests on a project through automation or simply by playing A LOT of notes simultaneously, and the sound was ok. If I want to completely get rid of the crackling noise while playing with the piano keys, I have to completely destroy the sound, like this: That's interesting, for this problem in particular, I only have it when I play live with the piano, but not if I create a project. This is the best free vst, and not because it is the highest quality audio, the sounds are fair but lack something that is hard for me to describe and is. Diagnose and repair sound playback problems automatically: Method 2: Try the steps provided in the following Microsoft article and check if it helps. I wonder if you should drop ALSA and use SDL.Ĭreate a project with notes just like those you have here, and confirm that you have ALSA-crackling, then change back-end to SDL and play the same project -Witch backend has the cleanest output? Method 1: Run the fixit from the following Microsoft Fixit article and check if it helps. Actual behaviorĬrackling and clicking noises. Normal sound without crackling and clicking noises. I tried using QJackCtl, 'a2jmidid -e' and most available options. It appears in LMMS as Input, but performs no sound when a key is pressing. Open LMMS and play any note, wait a bit and keep playing to hear if the bug evolves. Midi keyboard doesnt work in LMMS in Debian Linux. The sound configuration in LMMS is set on ALSA (default). I tried with different speakers and different softwares, the problem concerns uniquely LMMS and my audio set works perfectly as far as I know. It is more obvious on some instruments than others but it seems to concern everyone of them. Open LMMS and play any note, wait a bit and keep playing to hear if the bug evolves. After a few minutes it gets better but it keeps producing a clicking sound at the beginning of each sampled note (first I thought it was clipping but modify the volume or the form of the wave or whatever doesn't change anything). The sound configuration in LMMS is set on ALSA (default). When I open LMMS, I can't play any sound without having a monstruous crackling noise. I know this issue seems quite known in Linux world but I can't find exactly the same description as my own problem.
